Paddle from our shop up the Damariscotta river to Fort Island. This Island located a mile up the river from our location is a wonderful trip to enjoy local wildlife. Heron, Shags, Seals, Osprey, and possibly an eagle are just a fraction of the visible wildlife teaming along our route. Depending of the speed of the group we may have time to land on the Island and examine the remains of a fort used in a battle around 1812, before braving the gentle rapids on our return trip home.
